What does calibration mean?
Detecting and documenting the deviation of a measuring device's display or the specified value of a test device from the true, actual value of the measured variable.
Calibration of measuring instrument
‘Correct’ measurement is of fundamental importance, as inaccurate or ‘incorrect’ measurements can often have expensive economic consequences. The calibration or determination of the accuracy of test equipment is carried out worldwide by accredited laboratories in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
The EA (European Co-operation for Accreditation) and the ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) monitor the maintenance of the highest quality standards at international level. In Austria, this is done by Akkreditierung Austria.
When is accredited calibration according to Akkreditierung Austria required?
Accredited calibration is always necessary when a test device is used in a QM process. The operator regulates the use of the test devices and the periodic recalibration intervals themselves. Calibration certificates with an accreditation symbol are internationally recognised.
Akkreditierung Austria
Akkreditierung Austria is the national accreditation body of the Republic of Austria. It ensures that testing, calibration and certification bodies have the technical competence and equipment to carry out reliable conformity assessments. This independent recognition is a key contribution to quality assurance in the European single market and in global trade. Accreditation ensures that products and services comply with international standards and EU requirements – an essential prerequisite for market access and competition.
Who requires a calibration certificate in accordance with Akkreditierung Austria?
Every company with a quality management system is obliged, within the framework of normative requirements in the area of test equipment monitoring, to check its measuring equipment at regular intervals and to document this. You can fulfil this obligation with a calibration certificate with accreditation symbol according to Akkreditierung Austria.
The KERN calibration laboratory (0641)
The KERN calibration laboratory in Mieders is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for the calibration of balances. Calibrations are carried out flexibly – either directly at your premises or in the permanent laboratory. Based on the decades of experience of the KERN calibration laboratory in Germany, the laboratory in Austria stands for precision, reliability and the highest quality in weighing technology.
Calibration and verification
Calibration is the determination of accuracy worldwide by a laboratory accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. Traceability to internationally recognised standards. The calibration certificate with accreditation symbol according to Akkreditierung Austria confirms both the metrological properties of the test equipment and the general requirements of test equipment monitoring.
Calibration is the testing of verification error limits (tolerances). National regulations apply – for the protection of consumers. EU directives apply to the placing on the market (conformity assessment). Subsequent market surveillance is regulated at national level.
